Toddler ABCs

Episode Summary

I have a three-year-old who has been learning so much (as all kids do), but as the youngest of three with two significantly older siblings, her learning path is much different from my own.

Episode Notes

My kids have grown up in a daycare that their grandmother runs, which is nothing but fabulous.  However, when grandma is in charge, you get certain perks, even though grandma tries super hard to be completely equitable.  In the first two kids' lives, we send them off to daycare so they can come to the understanding that they are not the center of the universe before going to kindergarten.

This dang pandemic has changed things for the third kid.  Daycare rules make it so that kids basically have to stay in batches so they don't cross-contaminate other batches of kids.

Since the third kid can't go to preschool, I've had to up the academics with the baby. I have been teaching my three-year-old her letters.  I feel dumb because it really doesn't take that long and I really let the big kids down.

We just make super tiny little games out of learning the basics.  She walks into the room, I ask her what a certain letter is, what sound it makes and then we go about our day.  It's that simple.  What a relief!
